Deputy Chief Sean Schwindt was born and raised in the Township of Bloomfield, New Jersey. He attended Fairview Elementary School, Bloomfield Middle School, and Graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1996. Sean attended Essex County College and continues his studies today at Fairleigh Dickenson University.
Sean started his law enforcement career in 1997 with the New Jersey Department of Correction at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center (ADTC). Sean then joined the Bloomfield Police Department and attended the Essex County Police Academy in January of 1998. Upon graduating from the academy, Sean was assigned to the Patrol Bureau.
Throughout his career he served in many different assignments within the department to include: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Supervisor of the Traffic Division, Supervisor of Patrol Bureau, Commander of Administration and Training Bureau, and Commander of Professional Standards Bureau.
In September 2006, Sean was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the Patrol Bureau as a shift supervisor. In September 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Bureau as a shift commander. In March 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as Commander of the Administration Bureau. In January of 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief.
